Sorry if this is in the wrong thread. After installing the proprietary ATI drivers, Steam stopped working. I get some kind of GLX error I can't remember. Tomorrow I'll check it. It does not contain these words: rendering, direct, or context. I also have to delete xorg.conf EVERY TIME my laptop starts for KDE/Xorg to load. The glx error happens on start. Thanks guys.

Hmm... Which version of catalyst are you using, from where did you install it and which package did you install?
Also, when you set-up AMD Catalyst, did you:
1) build the kernel modules for the driver version AND kernel version? Using the catalyst-hook package with the catalyst-hook service does this automatically for you.
2) run aticonfig to generate a Xorg.conf file as outlined in the Wiki?
3) check you have the correct version of X installed?
Claire is fine.
Problems? I have dysgraphia, so clear and concise please.

1: Not sure about modules.
2: Yes, i did.
3: I have the latest supported X. 1.13.
I am using the latest catalyst, from vi0l0's repo. I installed catalyst-pxp-total from the AUR.

Ok, what happens when you run the following command
sudo catalyst_build_module all
Also, the latest version of X is 1.14 (and works with Catalyst 13.11), unless you are using stable...

Derp, I'm using stable. I'll go run build now.
Ran build, made no difference. glxinfo gives me unable to open display.

Forgot to mention, I have switchable graphics. Intel + ATI.

Found the error. glxChooseVisual. glxinfo and fglrxinfo gives me "unable to open display".

I would start with -pxp packages, look at the wiki and don't forget to install intel and mesa-libgl packages as well
In case of troubles paste your Xorg.0.log here

I do have the pxp packages, and Mesa. Sadly, I've switched to Ubantu and have the same problem.
