Hi,
I am starting to become desperate.
I have xfce and xdm running but my goal is to install gdm and gnome.
Sound is working great with this script. (thanks for that!)
However, I cannot get pulseaudio to work. If a try another login-manager or replace xfce4 by gnome-session in the ~/.xinitrc I just see a black screen or start over at the login screen respectively.
Here is the output of pulseaudio -vvvv
http://bpaste.net/show/143833/
and here is my system:
- i5-4670
- MSI H87 Mainboard
- HD 7700
- Asus Xonar Essence STX
I know there are lots of threads about similar problems. But most of them are quite old or do not apply to my problem directly.
I really hope you can help me. At the moment I really wonder why a Desktop Environment even refuses to start because of a broken sound server .. something is really wrong!
Regards,
Mars

What makes you think these two issues are related? Changing your login manager resulting in a black screen is Xorg related and you should be looking in Xorg's log for errors.
Not an Installation issue, moving to NC...

Solved by re-installation of the whole system -> close.
