Kde files location

big_smile  smile
    Attempting to find kde files, kadmin and kuser and video codecs files.
     Where are these located?

the whole kde-enchilada is installed in /opt/kde in AL.

kadmin and kuser

install the 'kdeadmin' pkg.

I guess you need the 'codecs' pkg.

Re: Kde files location

big_smile  smile zen;
   I located the /opt/kde files and you state that I should install kdeadmin .  I would think it to be already installed through pacman -Syu?

   I have downloaded mplayer plug-in.so.  Where should I insert it?

    The files I have in /opt/kde/include do not include kdeadmin.  Should it be a directory or a file.  I also do not find kuser which I guess is part of kdeadmin or is it called kadmin?
   I assume I am in the right file and that the pacman -Syu would load that file and it would be in that spot, right?

Re: Kde files location

big_smile  smile Zen;

   I re-checked and still do not find kdeadmin.  It is listed in  pacman -Q as an installed package.  That means to me that it should be evident in the /opt file.

     However, I expect that the name kdeadmin only applies to the pkg and its contents are spread out over the AL files.

    I would like to get mplayer working in root and user log-ins and also gmplayer neither of them do justice to mplayer right now.

     In googling, I learn that kuser allows for the selection of options and I assume they are part of the solution.  I also don't know where to put the codecs I mentioned altho /kde/lib has other similar elements in its files.  I haven't a clue as to where the install of the kdeadmin pkg appears( pacman -Q says it is installed!!!!)
   Confusion reigns!!!

Re: Kde files location

To list the files in a package use 'pacman -Ql packagename'.

      Thanks for reply.

     I entered several times asking for the listing and receivved reply that ...no such file...

    Entered   Pacman -Q and kdeadmin is listed.

    Entered  pacman -Ql kdeadmin-3.1.5-1 and received the ...no such file...

    Entered  pacman -Ql /var/cache/pacman/pkg/kdeadmin-3.1.5-1.pkg.tar.gz and again ...no such file...\
     I am doing something wrong???

   Received a listing.
     Located kuser.

     Most of the file is unreadable but error listings at end mention no password for %1.

    Located password in /etc/password and nedd to know what should be there for %1.  %2 has name and password listed but %1(assumed to be root) has no name or password.

   How do I change root? (%1 in kuser)

Re: Kde files location

I'm pretty sure kuser is a program... you have to run it... not read it.
