Acer Aspire One brightness

The fn brightness keys are working; however, even at the dimmest brightness, it is still quite bright.

I have tried xbacklight but it's not working.

No change in brightness using

xbacklight -dec 40

Repeatedly using the command above, shows that /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness is 0.
However, the brightness on my screen did not change.

/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/max_brightness is 15625 which seems to be too high. I've read that the usual number is around 10 to 15.

I have added acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor into my kernel parameters but it is still the same.

I am using Acer Aspire One ZG5.

Setting xrandr --brightness works, but how do I get the backlight to be dim?

Thanks in advance!

It worked!

Apparently it's just a issue of having a software to write the values to "/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness"

But does this mean that my monitor backlight is at it's dimmest at value of 0?

That I'm not honestly sure of i just know that when i stopped using xfce4-power-manager i lost brightness control
and reinstalling it brought it back.

as to the lowest value of the birghtness i couldnt honestly tell ya

my lowest is 414 when using the manager

-- edit --

if you use an alternate wm or for what ever reason dont want the xfce4 manager to display an icon id say just turn the icon off and let it run in background.

i use a vicious widget for my battery but i  keep xfce4-power-manager around simply for the brightness control.
