DB2 V9! That's the database I know and it is the best. Although IBM only officially supports SuSE and Redhat (and Ubuntu lately) it installes and runs fine on my Arch.
If the topicstarter meant only open-source databases I'd prefer MaxDB. A very mature and powerfull database. As far as I know the only open-source database certified for SAP.
Somewhere between "too small" and "too large" lies the size that is just right.
