With the LXDM display manager there is a giant "login:" is there any way to remove this since it gets in the way of my background.

niel_50, welcome to Arch. What have you tried already? Have you read the wiki topic on LXDM, particularly the Themes section? Have you looked for the giant login graphic in the appropriate themes directory and tried anything to replace or remove it? Have you checked the LXDM section of the LXDE wiki? We like people to try to solve their own problems here, and then report specifically what research they have done, what they have tried, and what specific results they have seen.

LXDM config files have been (randomly) moving around the file system recently - and are largely undocumented ![]()
The files you are interested in can be found in:
# main conf file (choose theme, which elements are displayed etc)
# /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf
#
# theme files - tweak as required
#/usr/share/lxdm/themesLXDM ships with only one theme by default - clone the "Industrial" folder and tweak to your hearts content ![]()

The Arch wiki section I linked is correct, as is the LXDE wiki section.
