I've got Intel 915GM graphics card and have it nearly working fine.
i915 kernel module is loaded
i810 as video driver
DRI is enabled
But there's a HUGE lag between the time I type the letters and the time they appear on screen.
This typing lag is only in xchat as far as I've noticed but it's very annoying.
I've tried unloading i915 module, using vesa (generic video driver) and disabling DRI but the lag is still there.

i had this ages ago, pre arch.
IIRC, the cause of mine was trying to import settings from mirc config script, i think, or trying to emulate the fonts in such (double byte fonts).
its so long back (faded memory) it may also have been my lack of video driver / fonts / experience also compounded my problems. OS was Redhat 6-7 ish.
So first, maybe try changing font settings.
If no joy, remove and re install via pacman (pacman -Ssy xchat ) not forgetting to remove the /home/user/.xchat2 directory prior, if pacman doesnt.
Check if lag is still there under default settings. if so, select another simple font, just to be sure.

I'm using the default xchat font settings.
Tried removing .xchat2/ but got the same problem.

tried other fonts - like courier or similar ? maybe it IS a video driver problem.
sorry i couldnt be more specific with how i solved it.

If it's still there when you use VESA, and it occurs only in XChat, it is probably not a video driver problem.
