Brother DCP-J4110DW

Hi folks just switched to arch from Mint,  the major issue I have at the moment is getting my printer working this worked fine under Mint since Brother provide .deb drivers for the printer. They also provide .rpm files.

I have tried searching the aur and there appears to be loads of drivers for brother just not this model.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, loving Arch so far and really don't want to switch back to mint just because of the printer.

Re: Brother DCP-J4110DW

Although it contains outdated references to init scripts, have you tried using the following as a model?  Works great for my 2170 (not your model I understand): https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Brother_HL-2170W.  Welcome to Arch.

EDIT: Removed the outdated references.

Re: Brother DCP-J4110DW

Hi thanks for the quick response but I can't get this to work either since my printer isn't listed in these steps

Select "Brother HL-2170W Foomatic/hl1250" from the list of drivers.

obviously looking for my printer not the HL-2170.

tried the alternative method and whilst it installs and sets up it won't print.  Says it is printing and says it completes but nothing coming out of printer.
All though I couldn't find  HP LaserJet Series PCL 6 CUPS (en) so went for HP LaserJet 6 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.9 as that was the nearest naming.

Well looks like I'm back to a debian based distro.  A shame really cos I like the rolling idea and the bleeding edge of everything else.

Re: Brother DCP-J4110DW

Did you try this driver: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bs … CP-J4110DW (google search).
Just extract 'brother_dcpj4110dw_printer_en.ppd' from the rpm and point cups to it.  There is nothing magical about a debian based distro; cups is cups and linux is linux.  If it works under Debian, there is no reason to think that it won't under Arch.

@Radio - I posted my comment in the AUR but will echo here:

Not not 100 % sure that you need:
*The extra deps for x86_64
*The installation /usr/bin/brprintconf_dcpj4110dw
*Most of the stuff in /opt/brother/Printers

...isn't the only requirement the ppd file? This is all I use for my 2170W.
