[solved]Seagate External drive cant read / write
hey i just bout a
Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive 1TB external HD i can mount it fine.
sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /Mountpoint
then
chown -R user /Mountpoint
however once i go in to move things onto it off of it i says cant read from device operation not permited
i tried mounting it with -w though i shouldnt need to same thing
and i get the same result back if i try to copy stuff with sudo command.
in my fm permisions are set to drwx on folders and -rw on files... im thinking since when i mount my android phone the permissions are
drwxr-xr-x that i need to change the permissions.
but im not sure what or how to use to do that. i checked chown --help and mount --help but couldnt find anything that seemed to look right.
ive never had a usb external drive so im not sure if im missing something i should have done.

also i already checked to make sure im a member of storage group
