gnash - the gnu flash alternative

http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash/

Maybe it can replace Macromedia Flash one day.

We should just do sexy SVG stuff, and forget flash existed.

Re: gnash - the gnu flash alternative

would definitely be nice if this turns out to be a better implementation than proprietary.

Re: gnash - the gnu flash alternative

i checked it

it does not work with almost any swf, but i found one that worked. the result was that it run 50-100 times faster than the propietary one, and resizing didn't affect performance

big_smile

really cool

Re: gnash - the gnu flash alternative

Does anyone know if they are going to 'cripple' this so that it only works with free codecs, or will it be based on whatever codecs you have installed? I imagine that a lot of swf's use non-free codecs..

It'll be interesting to see where this goes though, the current linux flashplayer absolutely sucks (thank god for firefox's flashblock extension).
