3.12 release and graphics switching support

Just saw these news (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Arch-Lin … 0250.shtml) and noticed that among new features is "automatic GPU switching in laptops" (http://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_3.12#hea … fbcad74d82) which should affect me as my laptop (Asus X55VD) has both Intel and nVidia graphics.

Can somebody explain to me what does this mean exactly and how can i use it and check if it works at all?
