i have been building kernels for 8 years, but now i can't seem to get kernels later than 3.8.x to boot - they get stuck at the initramfs stage and just sit there - no error message or disk activity. has there been a change in later kernels that may cause this?
any clues what could be the issue? UEFI enabled mobo with legacy support - shouldn't be an issue, then but again don't know.
cheers.

Building with PKGBUILDs or freehand? Hint, use a PKGBUILD?

Yeah, building freehand. maybe i should use a PKGBUILD then - old habits etc etc..

Use the official kernel as a template and customize till you're content. Works every time and all files are managed by pacman. Everyone is happy.
