Missing Image Icon in XFCE Panel for Power Manager?

Here's a screenshot:  http://i.imgur.com/pEjie0f.png

The red X in my notifications area of the panel has been bothering me for a while.  I'm using a colorized iconset of Aw0ken by alecive (deviantart it) but I've traced the icon to a missing image icon.  If I try and change iconsets, I get the equivalent missing image icon...so there's something that's being shown there, but there's no known icon for it I guess?  Is there anywhere I can look to see what all of the notification icons are supposed to be?  There are some times when I'm switching between battery and charging where the power manager icon will just not even be there.  It's very erratic.

The screenshot was taken while on battery power  There's a battery indicator and then a red X...I just don't know what it is.  if I right click on it, I get the popup menu for power manager, same as if I right clicked on the battery icon.

Re: Missing Image Icon in XFCE Panel for Power Manager?

Are you using xfce4-power-manager in xfce4?  I can see that it appears that you are using the xfce4 panel, but it is not clear that you are using the rest of it.  If you are, isn't it started by the .desktop file?  In those files you can specify the icon used, so you might be able to simply change it to something more common to most icon sets.

Personally, I don't use icons or .desktop files, so I'm not sure that this is actually good advice.  But it is the first thing that came to mind.

I am using xfce4-power-manager...and yes, xfce4 with the xfce4 panel.  I'll check the desktop files...

What concerns me is that I DO have a working battery indicator with charge indication and everything...there's just a second icon there and I don't know what it's supposed to represent.  I'm wondering if there's any logs for what's getting loaded?

I just figured it out...it's the mouse's battery that the X represents.  If I unplug the mouse, the X goes away.  Now to just find an icon for it.

I imagine that if it is an icon specifically for the mouse, it might actually go away with a properly charged battery.

Re: Missing Image Icon in XFCE Panel for Power Manager?

nope...I just found it's a known bug...there's a patch for it, but rather than patch it and rebuild from source, I figured it'd be easier to symlink the incorrect filenames.  The source code as written adds an extra - when calling the icons for things like phones, ups's, and mice...so to get the icons to show up, I just created a symlink to gpm-mouse-000.png with the name xfpm-mouse--000.png and so on for 020, 040, 060, 080, 100...restarted my panel and voila, working mouse battery indicator.

Ah so the thread is "solved"? Try getting the patch accepted upstream if it isn't already smile.

Yeah, working on that with the XFCE forum.
