Brother DCP-1512 printer

Hi,

I'm trying to get a Brother DCP-1512 printer to work with Arch, but it's proving difficult since there are no driver packages in pacman nor in AUR. Brother provides Linux drivers, but only aimed at Debian/RedHat-based distros, so they'd need some modifications to work with Arch. Their drivers were released around May this year, so they are quite new. How long does it usually take for an AUR package for something like this to surface?

I'm considering taking this into my own hands and trying to build an AUR package myself, but since I don't have any experience with how printing on Linux works or building AUR packages this would be quite a challenge and I'm not even sure I could succeed. Would this be something worth spending time on, or should I keep looking for help instead?

Any advice/pointers are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Brother DCP-1512 printer

Moving to AUR Requests...

Start by finding a PKGBUILD in the AUR for a similar printer and try adapting that yourself. Post here if you need specific pointers.
