I was looking at the wiki and it seems like things just keep changing with this topic. I am looking to get this fixed and work the best way it can.
Where can I find the proper configuration of automounting USB Pen drives for Archlinux? I used xfce.
On one system I have udev rules from ages ago, and on another newer installed system I am using https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/usb-automount-git/

I just do not get why my systems handle file copies like they do. On one system I have a decent amount of memory and it seems like when I do a file copy half the data goes into memory waiting on the device to catch up.
I was looking at udisks from here (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … ge_Devices) should I be using that now?
I remember on the first udev based install I could not use thunar to auto mount because I could not tune some mounting var (sync or something at the time)
I get the curve on archlinux and will do what needs to be done but sometimes I wonder why this stuff does not work out of the box a bit better.
One of the changes that I was thinking about recently was in CIFS. That is some parms changed and my mounts were messed up on a few of my systems because they are called something else. In the end I had to look through the man pages and find the different versions of the same thing for each version of CIFS I was using. (Different Distros) They have somewhere where I can get updates on stuff like this? Somewhere that may profile command line changes across versions of major commands and software? Besides each projects site?
The real problem I am having:
I dd a sata drive, system freezes sometimes while it is going on (not so bad), I compress some files on a mounted cifs share (system unresponsive until it is done, some mouse cursor movement every once in a while, I bet you a terminal ssh session would look fine but might not, I still cannot switch TTYs though), usb file copy freezes system like the CIFS copy but less.
