Cinnamon with awesomewm (yes, I have just written exactly that. I can provide instructions on how to do this if you wish):

I did have to install the notification-daemon package because of the awesome.session before it would work. I also have Cinnamon and awesomewm installed already (kind of needed to get this to work),
EDIT: Code corrected in last file XD

Thanks, tested it. And confirmed that tiled WMs are still not for me.
However I would love to have Awesome/i3-like borders (eg. 1px colors) and ability to move them (if not with "natural" drag&drop then with some key like alt/win). I wonder how to achieve that - perhaps best way is to write simple GTK theme with hidden window names and use it just for window borders only.

Hmm... I was never into actually writing themes, but it does sound like a reasonable idea.

I am thinking about trying to duplicate this with bspwm. I am infatuated with both bspwm and Cinnamon, but I cannot live without tiled windows now. Time for the fun to begin

Yes Indeed you have, although, I have one question. It appears to me that this will create an entry to be selected in one of the display managers. For instance, I would install cinnamon's display manager and try that. I do wonder what one would do to get it to start from xinitrc inorder to use something like slim instead. I just installed cinnamon and created these files and replaced references to awesome with bspwm and will be loading skhdc from xinitrc. We will soon see what the results are.

Yup, that's exactly what it does if you are using a Display Manager. I personally prefer starting DEs with DMs over startx, even though startx has a bad-ass fact to it. I currently use Mate Display Manager, as provided in the AUR.

If it can be done with awesomewm and GNOME, then you should be able to do it with Cinnamon. That's the logic I applied. I wouldn't know how to do it myself, because I don't use that method of logging in.

I got it all working, it was just a matter of editing cinnamon-session instead of creating bspwm-session and calling exec cinnamon-session in the xinitrc file. I added some more of cinnamon's services like the screensaver and stuff and it all works. I do not know that I am going to keep it, but I may. I use slim, which is more than enought for my needs, yet calles on xinitrc just like startx does.

Hi again! I managed to create one-color light border theme, but haven't need to do it from scratch - just found Phosphene theme ( https://github.com/hdni/Phosphene ) and tweaked it for my needs. So now i have only top border, 2px in height, blue-colored. I'm thinking if it's possible to randomize colors for it in gtk css themes, but for now I'm very happy with effect.

Okay guys, I have been doing BSPWM for a while now, but decided to give Cinnamon a try. I may keep this setup for awhile.

Dock looks like Plank (none of the others scream ElementaryOS like that one).
@Drumitar: I'm going to ignore for now the point that the name of that picture includes manjaro right now.

Hi all,
Cinnamon with Numix Solarized theme:
In addition to the Numix Solarized controls and window borders theme I am using an edited cinnamon menu/panel theme. I just changed the panel and font colors to match NS.
