[SOLVED] Asus S56CA WiFi LED Has Stopped Working

When I first installed Arch on my laptop this past August, I noticed that even after I had successfully gotten wireless working, the WiFi LED on the laptop did not light up.  This was only a minor inconvenience, but I did some Googling and came up with this forum post: Wireless LED not working on Asus K53E laptop with ath9k driver.  The thread mostly talks about starting the ath9k driver with the blink parameter enabled, which didn't work for me.  What did work was the last suggestion, "modprobe asus_nb_wmi".  I added the command to /etc/load-modules.d/ and everything worked fine.

Sometime in mid-September (quite a while ago, I know, but the issue wasn't important enough for me to look into right away), I updated my system and my old setup stopped working.  I didn't notice it immediately, so I'm afraid I don't know exactly what caused the issue.  If I recall correctly, there was a kernel update and a linux-firmware update just before I noticed the WiFi LED had turned off (all I know is they must have been before 18 September).  The update fixed my backlight, but now "modprobe asus_nb_wmi" doesn't do anything.  No error is returned, but as far as I can tell, nothing happens, either.  I also tried "modprobe ath9k blink=1" again, but that also didn't help.

Again, this is far from a fatal issue, but if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

In case it helps,

$ uname -a
Linux <HostName> 3.11.3-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Oct 2 01:38:48 CEST 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Also, I'm using wicd as my wireless client, if that matters.  Let me know if I can give any other information.

SOLVED!

echo "options asus_nb_wmi wapf=4" > /etc/modprobe.d/asus.conf
echo asus_nb_wmi > /etc/modules-load.d/asus.conf

Re: [SOLVED] Asus S56CA WiFi LED Has Stopped Working

Worked like a charm!  Thanks!  Any idea what the wapf option does in general?  Where can I learn more about the asus_nb_wmi module and its options?
