Choppy audio on Arch Linux

Hi friends, I came here with a problem that has me about changing of O.S.

When I heard a song, I have a problem on the portions where the song have less gain. Example: on the start/end, when the music sounds slowly it starts to "chop" (entrecortar, no sé si es el término correcto). However, when it comes a part where there is more instruments (i.e. more volume or gain) there is no problem, it sounds correctly. It's curious, because it chops just in this parts with little gain. I've never had a problem like that. I tested using Amarok and VLC and the problem is the same. On Windows all works alright.

I have Arch Linux with KDE and Phonon VLC. My notebook is a Lenovo G460.

Anything, I'm here.

Re: Choppy audio on Arch Linux

Are you using bluetooth for playback? What sound card is included in that laptop? Are you using pulseaudio or bare ALSA? Have you tried an Ubuntu live-CD or Fedora live-CD to check for regressions? (Arch is bleeding edge).

I'm not using bt playback (I don't even have a bluetooth card). The soundcard is a Realtek. I'm using pulse audio (I believe, I don't know how to know it). What do you mean when you talk of regressions?

Re: Choppy audio on Arch Linux

I've detected that the problem is just when playing a FLAC file. Runing Amarok from the terminal, I see this error when I start to play a Flac file:

flac decoder warning: an error in the stream caused the decoder to lose synchronization.

Re: Choppy audio on Arch Linux

I just fixed the problem. I've had to downgrade VLC and that's all. I did it puting the next on a terminal:

sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/vlc-2.1.0-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

It takes the VLC 2.1.0-2 package from the cache of pacman, and it reinstalls it.
