Computer slow to recover from hibernate, height CPU load, low usage

I recently reset-up my arch Linux system and everything's fine, except that whenever I suspend my computer, it resumes unusually slowly.  At first everything seems fine, but my average CPU load per minute is always above 5.5 then slowly drops.  Even weirder is that my CPU usage stays constant at about 4%.  My system never did that on my first install, and my laptop with more-or-less the same system doesn't have this problem.  I've check my daemons and don't see anything unusual or odd in there, and I have gigabytes of memory left.
