Only option is to use the open source driver. It's better than catalyst in many ways in any case.

Re: Install AMD Drivers for two vcards (4x and 5x)

open source driver give less fps... is not suitable for gaming.

i'm switching from windows multiseat gaming to linux multiseat gaming.
i need to install propetary drivers for amd radeon hd4xxx and hd5xxx
now i have working hd4xxx with catalyst but amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13-4-x86.x86_64.run
say that i already have a previous version of fglrx driver...

If the open driver is not good enough (though it should be doing quite well nowadays for HD4xxx and HD5xxx, just make sure to activate dpm), then what you want is not possible. Blame AMD for dropping support for HD4xxx so soon.

Dynamic power management. Read the radeon entry in the wiki on how to set it up.

You've been told *twice* already that you can't.

That's a very loaded question. "Better" regarding what? When it comes to having multiple graphics stacks at the same time, I suppose it is currently "better". X allows just one OpenGL stack. Nvidia is working on a solution, on a "vendor-neutral GL library" (they need it for proper Optimus support), but who knows when that will be finished. And even when it is finished, I very much doubt Catalyst Legacy will be adapted for it, I don't think AMD cares about it anymore. They'll point you to the open driver, which has become a viable driver nowadays.

About the open driver being "bugged"... Things don't magically fix themselves, driver developers need to know about it. Search the freedesktop bugzilla (bugs.freedekstop.org) if a similar issue has already been reported, and if not, open a bug report containing all the necessary info that would allow the devs to know what's going on and find a fix. And one other thing: Mesa 10 has recently been released, it brings several great improvements. Who knows, the bugs you see might already be fixed in it.

Re: Install AMD Drivers for two vcards (4x and 5x)

does look like it might be texture problems, are those games running native lunux 64-bit, linux 32-bit,  steam, wine ?

What OpenGL requirements do they list ?

Have you tried running with the mesa-git drivers from LordHeavy's repo http://pkgbuild.com/~lcarlier/ ?

Note : maybe it's time to switch to a new thread, Cancer. the Applications & Desktop Environments seems more suitable for the way this thread appears to be going.

summary of answer to original post :
nobody knows a way to have both radeon and catalyst running side-by-side , or even 2 different catalyst versions.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

People are making suggestions here to try and help you, and yet you've said nothing at all on whether you've tried them or not.

No it can't. Windows is not capable of running both legacy and current catalyst drivers at the same time. The only way around it is to use an old catalyst version for both, in which case you lose any benefits of the newer drivers.

This topic has reached the end of the line.  It would also seem that the discussion has been taken to the "Other Languages" Forum.
