I first used i7z and it seemed to work find, I got a pretty normal output. I have an i5-4670.
But I think it started when I installed i7z-git, my output is mostly gone. Here is all I see:
Cpu speed from cpuinfo 3399.00Mhz
cpuinfo might be wrong if cpufreq is enabled. To guess correctly try estimating via tsc
Linux's inbuilt cpu_khz code emulated now
True Frequency (without accounting Turbo) 3399 MHzNothing about the individual cores or power states.
I tried installing i7z again but it shows the same thing.
I feel like this is something silly but I can't figure it out.

Did you try running the program as *root* or via sudo ?

It did the same thing as root or from sudo. Turbostat didn't work either and printed ridiculous frequencies in verbose mode.
The problem was that the kernel had updated and I needed to restart. I knew it was something simple like that. I have rebooted since it first happened but I guess I updated my kernel since reboot as well.
