Did you install all three packages (cairo-infinality-ultimate, fontconfig-infinality-ultimate, freetype2-infinality-ultimate)?

Try cleaning the cache manually (/var/cache/fontconfig & $HOME/.cache/fontconfig) and re-run fc-cache -fv.

can anyone confirm that fc-cache -f leads to a segfault? i did a clean install today.
[root@ThinkPad markus]# fc-cache -vf Segmentation fault (core dumped)
fontconfig-infinality-ultimate, which contains fc-cache, was basically one of the first installed packages, because i wanted to avoid any conflicts with the default fontconfig package.
Works for me, no segfault.

Could anybody say whether http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/ … n-biblatex looks OK to them? The numbers in the citation are messed up for me in Firefox. My font settings in Firefox are default Serif, Serif serif, Sans-serif sans-serif, Monospace monospace. I'm currently using generic defaults in KDE settings e.g. "sans-serif" etc. rather than specifying a particular font. So I should be getting bohoomil's defaults.

CFR - I'm using KDE as well and the numbers in the citations look fine for me in Chromium but definitely show up as a very beautiful flowery script in another language when I use Firefox. Unlike you I've also set specific fonts for my KDE settings so I don't think that's playing a role here.

I can confirm it, maybe the numbers are wrongly encoded on the webpage. I am using i3 with infinality-bundle and ibfonts-meta-extended. Here is my output in different browsers (firefox, w3m, lynx and dwb), I haven't changed the default fonts anywhere. Playing with the text-encoding in Firefox hasn't given any results, either.
The lynx-output indicates that there are some wrong meta-characters embedded that should not be there.

Firefox & dwb. The original font is Lucida Grande (in our case it should be Droid Sans, just like in my shots). Please, check the output of

Yes, I have the same problem and downgrading from freetype2-infinality-ultimate 2.5.1-2 to 2.5.0.1 worked, I also tried manually clearing the fontconfig cache folders as suggested by bohoomil but still segfaulted when on 2.5.1-2.

The output matches. Those oldstyle number glyphs aren't part of Droid Sans, though. These glyph indices are taken from a fallback font, and for some reason my fontconfig chooses "DDC Uchen" here. I don't know which font it should usually be, but I know that the Junicode font has those digits.
I used the addon "Font Inspector" in firefox to list the real fonts used and not just the font-family mentioned in the css.
Edit: Those shifted digits are in the private use area starting at codepoint U+F731, it seems that it has become common practice to put them there.
http://www.fontspace.com/unicode/char/F … area-uf731
It seems that the OTF TeX Gyre families also contain shifted digits, but the type1 variants you provide are missing them.
Edit2: These codepoints are defined by Adobe, but not part of the official unicode specification

You're right -- DDC Uchen is what
FC_DEBUG=4 pango-view -t '' 2>&1 | grep -o 'family: "[^"]\+' | cut -c 10- | tail -n 1
returns as well. I'm tired, sorry. And thanks a lot for the tip: for all those tricky glyphs I decided to add ttf-junicode-ibx to the collection, some time ago, to be precise. Hence everything was working correctly in my case. Please, install it anyone in need. It's there, waiting, and willing to do the job.

I had it installed, but it had not been chosen. It works now with a custom config
~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf
<?xml version='1.0'?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM 'fonts.dtd'>

To avoid confusion, I uploaded TeX Gyre fonts in OTF format. Besides, for those who may need it, I added TeX Gyre Math fonts (currently 3 families) to the ibf-extra group. This should let us avoid issues with missing or incorrect glyphs, which should not happen. Of course, necessary changes have been introduced to 60-latin-free.conf.
Thanks again, progandy and cfr, for your contribution and assistance in tracking down the problem.

Thanks bohoomil, this has made it better, but it still segfaults, though at least this time it begins the process before segfaulting when hitting my windows fonts folder as seen below:

Incidentally? It looks like there are other users who are running into this issue when using freetype-2.5.1 also:

Thank your for mentioning the other thread. If this is really an upstream bug, then at least we know it has nothing to do with our patched release. I guess it is going to be a minor thing, probably related to a faulty (?) font file. Did you install your Windows fonts from an original disc? I remember I experienced this happen a long time ago and removing a culprit font fixed the issue. You can try and do the same: it is quite likely you are going to resolve the problem this way.

I've encoured an error the last time I ran 'pacman -Syu':
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
fontconfig-infinality-ultimate: /etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf exists in filesystem
fontconfig-infinality-ultimate: /etc/fonts/conf.d/30-metric-aliases.conf exists in filesystem
What could be causing this?

Indeed the solution was very simple :S
Another issue I'm having is when compiling ogre-1.8.1 with cmake. Apparently it lists freetype2 as a dependency:
-- The following REQUIRED packages could NOT be located on your system.
(..)
+ freetype: Portable font engine <http://www.freetype.org>
which conflicts with freetype2-infinality-ultimate:
sudo pacman -S freetype2
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: freetype2 and freetype2-infinality-ultimate are in conflict. Remove freetype2-infinality-ultimate? [y/N] n
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: freetype2 and freetype2-infinality-ultimate are in conflict
Is there any way to trick cmake to look at freetype2-infinality-ultimate isteand of the vanilla freetype2?

Can it be this?

Agreed. I did install the fonts from an original disc. Weird too because it doesn't present itself when downgrading, but I just went ahead and removed the windows fonts since i wasn't using them anyway. Thanks as always, really do appreciate your time and work.

Sorry. I was not able to be very attentive to this so didn't actually do anything. For some reason, the figures now display correctly for me without my having done anything. At least, they don't look like bohoomil's but they are definitely digits.
I discovered I still had ttf-junicode installed so I'm currently installing the ibx package. I'm adding the new TeX Gyre maths fonts package, too, just to make sure. Hopefully this will cover everything!
Thanks again for fixing this. (Whatever you did to fix it - I'm not terribly clear at this point since I hadn't installed any of the solutions when it solved itself.)

The TexGyre fonts are part of ibfonts-meta-extended. If you had that installed, the problem has been fixed silently with an update.

The new fontconfig also gives Junicode a higher priority. It doesn't matter which junicode package is installed as long as the font is named "Junicode", so that might also be the reason why it worked for you. The only difference between ttf-junicode and ttf-junicode-ibx is that the -ibx variant is guaranteet to display as clean as possible when used with infinality. The non-ibx version could look a bit skewed or blurred, the hinting might not work and so on.
