Problems with keys and failure to refresh them...

When updating I've got this problem:

 lib32-libdrm-2.4.50-1-x86_64 98.3 KiB 82.2K/s 00:01 [################################] 100%
(167/167) checking keys in keyring [################################] 100%
downloading required keys...
:: Import PGP key 2048R/487328A9, "Bartlomiej Piotrowski <b@bpiotrowski.pl>", created: 2011-10-10? [Y/n]

and then when I try and follow some advice from a similar thread this is what happens:

# rm -R /etc/pacman.d/gnupg
# rm /var/lib/pacman/sync/*
# pacman-key --init
gpg: /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/trustdb.gpg: trustdb created
gpg: no ultimately trusted keys found
gpg: Generating pacman keyring master key...
gpg: key 04FC7A15 marked as ultimately trusted
gpg: Done
==> Updating trust database...
gpg: 3 marginal(s) needed, 1 complete(s) needed, PGP trust model
gpg: depth: 0 valid: 1 signed: 0 trust: 0-, 0q, 0n, 0m, 0f, 1u
# pacman-key --populate archlinux
==> ERROR: The keyring file /usr/share/pacman/keyrings/archlinux.gpg
does not exist.

Let me know what else I should post to help with troubleshooting. I'm hoping I can do better than having to verify each key individually eheh

many thanks,
df

How is this a problem? Pacman is telling you what to do... Why would this prompt you to delete your keyring?

Re: Problems with keys and failure to refresh them...

hey, thanks for the reply. The original reason why these rm commands were run -- which I failed to mention -- is because during a regular pacman -Syu update, it was asking me to import Andreas's key or something. I unfortunately don't have that log to post. Needless to say there were similar threads on the forum that recommended running those rm commands to resolve the issue. As far as I know you should not be needing to import keys manually and if you do something is wrong or have I misunderstood that?

thanks

When one of the keys on the keyring is updated, you will need to follow pacman's prompt if you have signing enabled and you want to install the package...
