Blackscreen with catalyst-test driver

I have fresh installed arch linux,
as next step I installed xorg server and from AUR latest proprietary catalyst-test driver (13.11-10).
First time I run I had to create a symbolic link

find /usr/X11R6/ -type l -exec ls -la {} \;
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Nov 25 21:46 /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules -> ../../lib/xorg/modules/

because fglrx_dri.so has been searched on path /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so

After lot of configurations I start again X via startx, the screen goes black, and I am unable to kill X.
I checked all, what was to check, and realy have not got any idea more.
Could someone please give me advice ?
Configuration files and logs are here:

/var/log/Xorg.0.log from yestarday

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

grub.cfg ( how I start init 3 session )

startx debug from today

What is the differnce ( except size ) between these two files fglrx_dri.so ( lib and lib32 )

ll `locate fglrx_dri.so`
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 35M Nov 25 20:27 /usr/lib32/xorg/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  38 Nov 25 20:27 /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so -> /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 34M Nov 25 20:27 /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so*

Re: Blackscreen with catalyst-test driver

Guys I know where the problem is smile.
Accidentally, my wife turned on strong table lamp, and then ...
then I saw on notebook's lcd my two xterm windows - namely from xorg-server all is OK -
only lcd backlight is gone after  xorg-server start.
At the moment I do not know why, but I will reserch it.

Re: Blackscreen with catalyst-test driver

Definitely backlight.
Yesterday evening I modified acpi handler script ( /etc/acpi/handlers.sh ) and added sections for brightness(up|down) button press control.
New incremented or decremented values are saved correctly into /sys/class/brigtness/acpi_video0/brightness or,
if apci_backlight=vendor to /sys/class/brigtness/asus_laptop/brightness, but nothing happens, lcd backlight is still off.

I start X from runlevel 3, in console backlight is on and control via buttons ( up / down ) works, once I start X ( simply with startx cmd )
backlight goes off, pressing the brightnrss controll buttons does not help ( but new backlight brightness values are written to sys/class/brigtness/... ) ,
both deamons ( acpid, atieventsd ) run.
It looks like no one ( daemon ot other ati process ) read actual /sys/class/brigtness/acpi_video0/brightness values.
Has anyone any idea ?

Re: Blackscreen with catalyst-test driver

mojtabazan: Probably I will end like you with open source driver but before I want still fight.
I think, I have to check again both deamons ( acpid and atieventsd ), turn on debug and loging options for both.
In fact, this ( extensive debuging ) should be done as first.
I am full time employe and do not have much time.
Weekends when I try to seat for pc longer as two hours, my wife grumbles "you do not have enough from work ..." wink
Ok it is another topic.
I will write what came out with deamons debuging.

Re: Blackscreen with catalyst-test driver

Hello again after a long time.
I lost the battle.
Acpid and atieventsd debuging ( with call parameter ) did not help,
I lerned nothing new or clever about why the brightness is still off.
Therefore, since a week a use open source ati driver.

Re: Blackscreen with catalyst-test driver

Same problem. Same graphic card.
This Week, this package is passed to "stable" status and was in my weekly update.

R.I.P my laptop screen. (also tried various solutions, but will not investiguate deeper)
