I cannot get vmwaretools to successfully install on a ARCH VM.
I have tried with the latest kernel, and as suggested elsewhere, the LTS kernel ( 3.10.20-1-lts ) which was reported to work, however I am unable to succeed with either the open or the official versions.
With the official version (on both LTS and current kernels) I get a failure of VMCI:
/etc/init.d/rc6.d/K99vmware-tools start
Checking acpi hot plug done
Starting VMware Tools services in the virtual machine:
Switching to guest configuration: done
VM communication interface: done
VM communication interface socket family: failed
Guest operating system daemon: done
And on the open version (LST and Current) I get:
Error! Build of vmblock.ko failed for: 3.10.20-1-lts (i686)
I have googled both of these issues and tried several things but none result in success.
Has anyone else succeeded in installing vmwaretools on a recent kernel ??

Same problem here.
Anyone know what happened to the open-vm-tools-modules package?
