I just wanted to tell you that there where some secrets visible in your screenshot, but you removed them already. That's the dangerous part of screenshots smile

It's torsmo or conky (a fork of torsmo as torsmo isn't developped anymore).  For your flikering, put

# Use double buffering (reduces flicker, may not work for everyone)
double_buffer yes

in your .conkyrc. Torsmo might also have this option.

Read this. All my windows are transparent when they're not focussed. If you look closely, you'll notice the layers of transparency. X-Chat and aterm (and others probably) also offer transparency, but it only show the wallpaper.

Mind you, enabling the Composite extension will cause some strange windowbehaviour from time to time, but I like the eyecandy too much so it doesn't bother me.

Final note: once you've enabled Composite, it'll work in any WM / DE (since it's an X.org option).

Also note that it is much faster in Xorg 7, especially if you have a video card that supports EXA.

Re: January 2006 Arch Screenshots

ah. I'm using a radeon 9600, and my glx support aint that good at the mo (the latest ATI driver works but refuses to shutdown X in any way, meaning the machine wont shut down at all). So I guess I will wait until theres a better ATI driver.

Interesting what you say about xorg 7, ive been avoiding it so far because I dont quite understand it yet

I haven't tried xorg 7 yet but here's some information. Judd has posted a little HOWTO here:

There might also be other stuff in the wiki too as well in the forums.
