No audio, unless a jack is inserted (and eventually ejected)

Very strange problem.

When I log in in my arch system, audio is not working.

If I insert the jack to connect the laptop to the monitor, then the audio works well.

After that, if I eject the jack, audio continues to work well also on the laptop.

I can't figure why it may happen.
Audio simply not work at the beginning, but works after a jack is inserted/ejected.

Any ideas?

What is taking care of your sound? If you are using alsamixer, aren't there some channels muted or what about auto-mute node? It's probably something else though...

Is Arch Linux user called archer? Where are our bows and arrows?

Re: No audio, unless a jack is inserted (and eventually ejected)

Hi!

I have the same issue. About two months earier, I installed Archlinux for the first time on my laptop. Everything went well except the pulseaudio. Then, there was a pulse update, and that update solved my problem, but if I start the computer I have no sounds, so I have to plug my jack cable in, then out and I have my laptop speakers back smile

The other problem is, that every sound source put my volume level to maximum, if I enable it. For example, the google chrome maximize the volume level, I change it, then I would like to listen some other music, start Amarok, and it maximize the level again. If I get an event sound, I have to watch out, because that sound is on maximum level too. It is really annoying.

I had to change "autospawn=yes" option in the pulseaudio config file. If I leave on "no", my sound system working only occasionally.

Autospawn=yes only solves my personal problem, that the pulseaudio did not worked. But I always have to plug jack in and out to make my laptop speakers working. And there is the volume level problem too...

Same problem for me, Arch re-installed on December, 28.
On previous installation audio was working fine.
I'm on an Asus laptop.

I tried an other distro, called Manjaro, the KDE version, and there is the same problem too...
