Applications can no longer play audio after update | VAIO VPCCW21FX

I'll make this as quick, clean, and to the point as possible. Also, please forgive me because I haven't used Arch in over 3 years, so a lot of things are different.

- I am on a Sony VAIO VPCCW21FX.
- I installed using the AUI script (which is absolutely wonderful, I might add).
- I am using Gnome 3 as my desktop environment.
- I can hear system sounds out of my speakers and headphones, but no applications appear to produce sound.
- This started a couple of days ago after a system update.
- ALSA and Pulse seem to be set up properly.
- Alsamixer shows my sound card and allows me to configure output/input.
- PulseAudio Volume Control also shows my card, and allows me to configure output/input.
- Gstreamer and it's dependencies and codecs are installed.
- Mplayer and it's dependencies and codecs are installed.

Here is the output of lspci -v | grep -A7 -i "audio":

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 05)
	Subsystem: Sony Corporation Device 9072

	Memory at e8e00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2
	Capabilities: [60] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+
Capabilities: [70] Express Root Complex Integrated Endpoint, MSI 00
	Capabilities: [100] Virtual Channel

01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)
	Subsystem: Sony Corporation Device 9072
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16
	Memory at e3080000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 3
	Capabilities: [68] MSI: Enable- Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+
Capabilities: [78] Express Endpoint, MSI 00
	Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel

And yes, the CLI speaker test that plays white noise works.

It seems to be a codec issue to me, but I have no idea what codecs would be conflicting with each other. If anyone knows of a remedy, or can point me in a general direction, I would be very grateful. Thank you.
