Hi guys,
I want to reorganize my applications menu, but I have some items I want to change folder and I don't know how to do it.
For example, I want "Search and Index" to be on "Utilities" folder. I don't even know if "folder" is the right name to this thing. Here is a screen:

How can I do it?
Thanks!

Just drag and drop it into the 'folder'.
I've tried, but it's not working here. Is it a bug or was it just a guess?
I copied /etc/xdg/menus/gnome-applications.menu to ~/.config/menus, and added some lines following the examples available. Now I have my applications in the folder, but also outside of it. Trying to handle this problem right now.
Any clues?

Try using alacarte to change the category of your application.
I'm sure I was able to drag and drop but I've just logged into Gnome to check and it's not working. Either the behaviour has changed in an update or (more likely) it's my memory failing on me ![]()

I used alacarte to remove these apps, but they were also removed from the folder.
I don't know if alacarte do the same thing, but if I change the category of an app in the .desktop file, nothing changes on the menu. For example, gnome-terminal.desktop:
Categories=GNOME;GTK;System;TerminalEmulator;
You can't see Utilities or Utility on the categories, but it's on "Utilities" folder! These things must be changed in gnome-applications.menu.
I just don't know how to remove the app from outside the folder...so now I have two "Search and Index", one in the Utilities folder, and another one outside the folder.

alacarte is simply broken in gnome, useless

Please don't go about bumping old topics just because you have a problem with alacarte..
