radeon driver with a radeon 7850 2d acceleration unbearably slow

**EDIT** vdpau issue solved. needed a setting in chrome:flags

**EDIT** turns out its 2d acceleration sucking... i can get a working system, when using compton with glx backend...

Hi, i put in my new 7850 card and installed xf86-video-ati plus mesa-libgl and ati-drm.
also activated dpm powersaving to kernel line in syslinux.cfg. all this is working according to X log/dmesg

basically i have 2 issues.

a) kde is unworkable. *with and without* composite i have to wait like a minute for applications to react.
as soon as i switch back to a nvidia card things start to work normally again.

b) vdpau works fine for mpv. but its not working at all in flash. tried with both, pepper and flashplugin. 100% cpu all the time.

dmesg:

He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.

iirc, the 7850 uses the radeonsi driver which uses glamor. Do you have glamor-egl installed?

Other than that best bet is to try using the fgrlx driver instead. It should work better than the open source driver for the 7850.

glamor is used automatically for 7xxx cards.
and catalyst was a total disaster... kernel crashes whenever vaapi/vdpau was used.

just tried kde again. i cant even move the mouse without major lags... (with and without composite)

those warnings disappear when i use nomodeset. but then direct rendering isnt working anymore... hell...
