[SOLVED] Can not install Arch on a VirtualBox

Dear all,
I would like to get familiar with Arch and have tried to install in on a Virtual Machine created with VirtualBox.

Unfortunately I can't even start the installation,
whenever I select Install Arch_64bit I just see a white cursor and nothing else happens.

I have found three logs file in my Virtual Machine folders, you can find them here:

Can you please help me understanding what is wrong and how to fix it and install VirtualBox?

Have you selected archlinux-2013.12.01-dual.iso in the CD/DVD drive option in virtualbox?
After starting the vm, press "f12", then "c" to boot the archiso in virtualbox.

whenever I select Install Arch_64bit I just see a white cursor and nothing else happens.

There is no such option on the archiso...

Hi teatewhy,
yes I have the correct .iso.

Sorry I mispelled the option in the hurry.. I select "Boot Arch Linux (x86_64)" (but I still can'install if I select "Boot Arch Linux (i686)".

What host are you using?  If your processor does not support a native hypervisor, then you can only simulate a 32 bit machine.

Hi ewaller,
I am not sure I understood. I am not using any host, I just am trying to install it on my laptop.
Anyway the installation doesn't start neither if I select a 32 architecture.
In the past I have installed other 64 distribution flawlessly (including a dated Arch from a couple of years ago).

If the 32 bit version will not run, then what I was pursuing was not the problem.  For completeness, the laptop is the host.  Arch is the guest.  The host could be running BSD, OS/X, Linux, or other less capable operating systems.  Not all combinations of host hardware/BIOS/OS support a 64 bit guest.  Glancing at your logs, I get the impression you are running on an Ubuntu host.

maybe the iso image is corrupted, you should try to re-download the iso and check the md5 signature

The ISO thing seems more likely to me, because I never had troubles installing guest OS in my host machine (and yes it is Ubuntu)
I'll try that and let you know how it goes!

the md5 sum matches the one in the Download page..

If the md5 checksout, you probably have a bad setting in your vm within virtualbox.  Check it or delete and re-create.

I finally tried to upgrade Virtualbox to the most recent version (4.3.6) and the installation process doesn't hang any more!
