[solved] modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'vboxguest': ...

Hi

After upgrading to latest kernel, I have some trouble with the virtualbox guest additions. When I load vboxguest, I get the following errors: modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'vboxguest': Invalid argument

From kernel:

[  763.085612] vboxguest: disagrees about version of symbol pci_unregister_driver
[  763.085618] vboxguest: Unknown symbol pci_unregister_driver (err -22)

I have tried to recompile the modules, using dkms install vboxguest/4.3.6 but error still prevails.

Is there anything else I should try?

Did you reboot?

Yes, multiple times. Btw, you can also see that from the kernel timestamps

I "fixed" it by ignoring updates on linux and virtualbox for now. I see that there are some similar bugs recently reported, but unsure on how to resolve this.
