Hi,
I just installed Arch Noodle on my IBM R51 laptop.
During boot I get this message:
Jan 16 13:58:02 lb8 hw_random: RNG not detected
Jan 16 13:58:02 lb8 ipw2200: ipw-2.4-boot.fw load failed: Reason -2
Does anybody have a solution for this?
I don't really 'feel' the problem when using the laptop, but I just want get rid the errormsg if I can
Sincerely, Jørgen

It is safe to ignore those messages. If you want to get rid of them, you could blacklist them.
Are you using hotplug, hwd, or hwdetect for detecting your hardware?
edit: fixed typo

Hi, and thanks for your reply.
I really don't know what I use to detect my hardware. It must be the default tool im using, because I just did a regular install.

Don't know what the default is with 0.7.1, I only did install from 0.7.
If you use either hotplug or hwd, these are listed in the DAEMONS array in /etc/rc.conf.
hwdetect works by putting MOD_AUTOLOAD=yes in /etc/rc.conf
I assume the default still is hotplug, but hwdetect and hwd are superior to hotplug, so instead of solving, you might want to switch (hwdetect is fastest).
Information about hwdetect you can find here http://www.archlinux.org/news.php#188

Thanks for your help. I now found out that it is my wireless network which is not working.
Im not using it anyways, so do you think I should do a reinstall with wireless network disabled in my BIOS?

You don't need to do a reinstall. If you're using hotplug (hotplug in DAEMONS array in /etc/rc.conf) you can prevend the modules from loading (the modules which are not loaded correctly) by adding them in /etc/hotplug/blacklist
For hwdetect, you specify modules to blacklist in the MOD_BLACKLIST array in rc.conf

No, hotplug is dead and gone. MOD_AUTOLOAD is the way to go.

If you want your wireless net card to work, simply download Intel's binary firmware from http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php?fid=6 and untar it in /lib/firmware (create it if it doesn't exist).

Thanks alot for all your help.
I got my wireless installed and working now. (At first I simply disabled it because I didn't want to use it)
Well I enabled it again, and followed the instructions from zen_guerrilla.
Great!
