[SOLVED]Conky - no lua bindings

Hello everyone!

I want to run this conkyrc on my desktop:

http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ … ent=141411

The rings you can see are generated by a lua script stored in ~/.lua/scripts/clock_rings.lua

When i run my conky, i get everything displayed fine, except those rings. When i start conky in terminal, i recognized the following output:

[andrew@localhost ~]$ conky
Conky: llua_load: /home/andrew/.lua/scripts/clock_rings.lua:117: module 'cairo' not found:
	no field package.preload['cairo']
	no file '/usr/share/lua/5.2/cairo.lua'

	no file '/usr/lib/lua/5.2/cairo.lua'
	no file '/usr/lib/lua/5.2/cairo/init.lua'
	no file './cairo.lua'

When running 'conky -v', i wasn't able to see something in the section 'Lua-bindings'.:

[andrew@localhost ~]$ conky -v

Re: [SOLVED]Conky - no lua bindings

Firstly, uninstall the conky you have.  Then install conky-lua from AUR.

I just tried it, and when I tried to install conky-lua with the normal conky already installed it didn't work.  When I uninstalled conky from the official repo, then installed conky-lua from AUR, it then showed cairo under the lua bindings.  Try that and then let me know if it doesn't work.

Programming is a race between programmers making better software the the universe making bigger idiots.  So far the universe is winning.

Re: [SOLVED]Conky - no lua bindings

I tried it - no success --> same issue.

BUT i found some conky configuration files when using 'find' as root. I do not why they are still existant ... However, deleting them and reinstalling
the AUR package fixed the issue.
Also make sure you empty your trash after deleting haha ;)

Thank you for your help fetyr!

Re: [SOLVED]Conky - no lua bindings

I stumbled apon this while trying to solve a Conky problem. conky-lua and conky-lua-arch have been flagged "out-of-date". Should I still use them?

Re: [SOLVED]Conky - no lua bindings

That is up to you. If you're feeling up to it, you could even update the PKGBUILDs for the latest version and post a patch in the package's comments. However, please don't necrobump old, solved topics.
