Happy New Year everyone. Time for a new thread.
Posting Guidelines
· DO NOT post full resolution screenshots! You can use the "mogrify" command (pacman -S imagemagick) to make a thumbnail of your screenshot:
$ convert -resize 250x250 screenie.png thumb-screenie.png
Sizes Twenty percent of the original size is great for 1024x768 screenies. For bigger sizes (and especially for multi-monitor setups), we ask you to keep in mind not everyone uses broadband, and use an even smaller size (10% of a Full HD setup will still be 192x180, for example). NOTE: Anything wider than 250px or over 50Kb in size will be removed.
You can then upload these images to your server and use the following code to show them on the forum:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9334227/www/galleries/screenshots/thumb-20090621-3647748995.png
*Thanks to Thayer for the screenie (more...)
· Several websites offer free image hosting.
Use the "thumbnail for forums" link code that is supplied by the image host to post your thumbnail link.
· Once the new month begins please do not post new screenies in the old threads.
· If the screenshot has questionable material that might not be safe to view while at work or in a school setting, please post only a link and not a thumbnail, along with a mention of "Not Safe for Work". Posts that do not adhere to this are subject to deletion without notice at any time.
· Please try to include any links to your wallpaper or configs that you may have and/or the names of your icon theme, running apps, DE, etc. in the same post to reduce unnecessary clutter later.
***** Your screenshot will be replaced by a reminder if you do not follow these guidelines *****
* As a simple way to include information about your setup in the screenshot, you can use a tool like screenfetch (in [community]) or Archey, screenfo or alsi (all in AUR) to print out details about your window manager, font, shell etc., with a very attractive ASCII Arch logo...

Because I'm STILL recovering from the festivities, would you mind sharing that conky config? It's just the right amount of minimalism I need :-3

sure. Just be aware that alignment is an issue in this conky, so there are a lot of voffsets in there. Fonts are openlogos, poky, radiospace and dejavu mono

I know that this is probably a stupid question, but would you mind telling me what it is that you are using to draw that menu screen in the first shot?

Okay guys, I have been doing BSPWM for a while now, but decided to give Cinnamon a try. I may keep this setup for awhile.

Crosspost from Awesome thread
I just finished the most useless widget of them all, the PieChart! The only thing it does is to look cool. Not too bad for 67 lines of code.

Hey @agahnim, Can you explain a little more about that setup? Is that stock Cinnamon? What is that icon set?

The environment is cinnamon. The system icons are the Aw0ken White theme, while the dock in the middle of the screen (cairo dock) is using the Nitrux icon theme. The conky was made from scratch by me, with the exception of a small script that I found to display information from clementine. The colors in the conky are meant to match my terminal color scheme. The shell theme is Dark Glass with slight color modifications on the panel so that it would match the conky. The widget theme is FlatStudioDark and the border theme is Numix-blue. I am using the infinality font bundle and the wall paper was something that I found recently on the wallpaper general board on 4chan. That should just about cover it. If you need any configs then just ask and I will get them to you as soon as I can. Thanks for the email by the way. Sorry if it took too long to reply. Hope this helps.

Thanks @agahnim I really appreciate it! That's a great looking desktop. One thing I don't understand (probably because I've never used Cinnamon) is why doesn't that look like any Cinnamon desktop I've ever seen? It looks like just a WM or shell at most.
Is there some sort of barebones Cinnamon or can you easily just strip it down? How do you like it? Is it fast?

I'd like more info as well. Could you post configs? I've been using bspwm for a bit too and want to try this out.

It is just stock cinnamon without any screen widgets or anything enabled. I am not using a lot of the panel widgets and I have no widgets on screen. The only thing that I have configured myself in plain text is the conky. Everything else is basically stock. All that I have done is enabled a theme, sized the panel to 20 pixel width, and enabled the certain widgets that I wanted with the panel. You can choose which icon you want for the menu button by right clicking it and choosing configure. I can post configs if you want, but all that I am really responsible for is the configuration of the conky and the dock. I could easily reproduce this more or less with openbox, but it is not really much slower and there are some niceties to cinnamon, like how it handles adding monitors and the sound applet and stuff. Would you like me to post in code blocks or to upload the configs somewhere? I will be posting my Xresources, Conky, and I can export a theme for the dock which can be added with the gui.

That would be terrific. I'm giving Cinnamon a try from bspwm now and it's strange how fond I am of it from a while of using a tiling wm. Your config seems great to start out with.
Perhaps you could throw everything onto Github? But if it's too much work I guess code blocks / plain upload could work.

Alright, for those who asked.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/913 … igs.tar.gz
Included is all of the things you should need for the conky. I included three scripts that I have dug up from various places. One is to get the number of new emails from your gmail address. You will have to insert your account information into the script. One script is to display play information from cmus, and the other for clementine. The conky is set to use the script for clementine and it has its own arguments in conky to choose what to display, while the cmus script decides its output in the script itself and just has to be executed. You will need to have the Edges font, the snap font, PF Tempesta Five font and the DeJaVu Sans font. I believe the only one of those that you will not already have is the PF Tempesta Five which is easy enough to find with a quick google search and it may be in the AUR. I included a theme pack for Cairo Dock, and my Xresources. The reason that I do not include the Cinnamon configs is because I know very little about the actual files because the GUI tools are more than sufficient to duplicate what I have done with a couple of clicks. I did include the Dark Glass theme that I changed the colors on a bit, just copy it to ~/.themes . If you need anything else just ask.

I will warn you that the conky config is far from the cleanest that you will ever see. I made it for personal use and there are no real comments or anything. Sorry.
