Hello,
Sorry I don't have much of details. Some time when I start kate, dolphin or kdesu kate there's a long delay before the window appear.
I don't have idea where to look for logs.
Any idea?

You can look for logs in ~/.xsession-errors
I've noticed the same problem with Dolphin starting some days ago, sometimes Dolphin takes a few minutes to start. But it doesn't happen every time, haven't found the cause yet.

NETWORK SETTINGS!!
It totally sounds like a hostname problem in your network settings.
Make sure your host name is correct in the "/etc/hostname" file and that the host name is also in your "/etc/hosts" file next to "127.0.0.1".
BAM! Fixed!
...right?

$ cat /etc/hosts
#
# /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
##<ip-address> <hostname.domain.org> <hostname>
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
::1 localhost.localdomain localhost
Bold faced or underlined or both?

@TheSaint
I had the same problem as you with dolphin.
drcouzelis's hint solved for me.

I've been experiencing the same behavior with dolphin and konqueror immediately after logging into kde. It started after installing kde 4.12 so I'd suspect it was introduced with the new version. I'm not seeing this delay when I use razor-qt.

Ihad a similar problem when I firat installed.
Went into the settings,,disabled nepomuk indexing and played with the power managemet settings.
That solved it for mr

I done as suggested, but the fact happening very seldom
I suspect that nepomuk is the guilty.

I did some tweaking when I started using KDE. Couldn't find the page I used then, but this page
has the same information regarding akonadi and nepumok.
