USB not working

Hi,

I rarely use USB devices in my laptop, maybe once in a month or so. But yesterday I noticed that my external hdd drive was not detected (dmesg didn't show anything) and also my usb mouse was not working. The output of lsusb seems correct, and I know it's not a hardware problem because I have a dualboot with Windows 7 in this laptop and there my USB are working fine.

I assume this stopped to work in some kernel update weeks ago, but I don't have the old pkgs to downgrade and test it. Do you know if I need to manually load some modules? Any idea? This arch install is more than 3 years old and it's the first time this happens.

Thank you

Re: USB not working

No i can't mount, the device is not shown in /dev/

I don't know what more info could be useful. It's an up to date arch installation on a Thinkpad T410 laptop. The output of "sudo fdisk -l" only shows my internal drive.

This is the output of lsusb:

Are the reported versions exactly the same?
Is your system fully up to date (i.e. you have recently run pacman -Syu    ?
When last did you update?
What was updated at that time?

Re: USB not working

I update the system everyday. I don't know when it stopped to work because I don't use USBs usually. The versions are exactly the same.

PS: Good news: now it's working although nothing has changed in my system since yesterday, sorry for wasting your time.

Re: USB not working

I have the same error - external drive doesn't work (USB 3.0). However, it was working before an upgrade. Flash drives (USB 2.0) works just fine. Laptop is Thinkpad T431s.

uname -r
3.12.6-1-ARCH

Everything is up to date.

An update before the latest one was on Dec, 26 2013. A log of the latest update can be found here: http://pastebin.com/DBS45085
