I can't see the picture but I'm going to make a guess...did it say no more memory syntax error line 164? or something like that?

If it did

nano /etc/default/grub

and add GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=y

I literally just got done installing on a new machine and was having problems with grub

EDIT: Then re-run grub-mkconfig

I got this very same error and your suggestion fixed it however upon reboot i get dropped into "grub>" prompt. Not too sure where to proceed form here.

EDIT:
Managed to resolve this by following the instructions located here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GR … mand_shell

Now just need to fix the grub.cfg.

Re: Grub fails to boot on new install

Hi,

installed a new machine yesterday and had the same problem.
Check the outfile name /boot/grub/grub.cfg, I remember that it was named grub.cfg.new and that is why it didn't work and dropped me into grub> prompt

/xor
