Re: System freeze with possible HDD/SATA link problem

Things are not getting better: random core dumps from random applications (may be Google Chrome, emacs, gnome-shell or X.org, in the latter case I'm leaved with an unusable system of course) at random times.
I know I'm just disorganized in my bug hunt, and I know my skills are barely enough to let me post questions here, but does anyone have a clue about this? I managed to capture this log before system hanged:

Re: System freeze with possible HDD/SATA link problem

Random segfaults all over the place are more likely to be caused by RAM or CPU malfunction. Try memcheck and prime95. And before running any of them, check if the CPU doesn't overheat.

I've previously done an extensive memcheck test without any result, but I'll do another one (should, in your opinion, remove in turns the memory banks and check them individually?), and I'm grabbing mprime suite.
Thanks for your help.

PS: I would not like to speak too soon, but I'm trying linux-lts kernel (3.10.25-1-lts) along with nvidia-lts (331.20-5) and so far never experienced a freeze or a segfault in a few hours of continous operation.

Re: System freeze with possible HDD/SATA link problem

LTS kernel apparently helped, but the problem was not there. Yesterday I reverted systemd to version 204, I'm afraid I'm speaking too soon, but since then I did not experience a single freeze, and dmesg output is now pretty clean in respect of using systemd to 208-3 up-to-date version. I will report any update to my situation.

Thank you.
