zsnes and xbmc

I just installed advanced launcher and zsnes. I start xbmc using service. I wonder what extra config files I need to get emulations functioning under xbmc and arch linux. Right now my zsnes starts with balnk screen. I run xinit zsnes I get libGL error: failed to load driver: i965

Re: zsnes and xbmc

1. Do you perhaps have a 64bit OS and don't have lib32-intel-dri installed?

2. Any particular reason you have to use zsnes for that? Dunno how the various xbmc frontends work exactly, but if it's replaceable you'd be much better of using snes9x as it is not limited to 32bit only and generally more accurate

Re: zsnes and xbmc

I believe the znes cfg-file is in .znes/ under home, in a normal installation - is that not the case even when running through xbmc?.
Have you tried other video/render modes that do not use GL, with zsnes?. smile

I myself prefer zsnes, but otherise snes9x is an ok alternative if nothing helps.

Re: zsnes and xbmc

From a pure technical and emulation accuracy standpoint snes9x is leaps and bounds beyond zsnes in every way, especially apparent in the sound emulation (there are a shitton of smaller soundeffects that aren't emulated or are emulated in a wrong way in zsnes (e.g. heckran's cave in CT, some sounds in SMW iirc...)  the only thing zsnes has going for it is the awesome gui and the compatibility with broken hacks that only work on zsnes due to its inaccuracy

If you wanna go fulltime accuracy you can also opt for higan, but I assumed the op doesn't want to up the system requirements to a 3Ghz CPU

Re: zsnes and xbmc

Yeah BSNES/Higani are the most insanely "accurate", if that is what is a need. that is true - it is a matter of needs i suppose. smile
