Hi all,
i have an issue like discribed in the subject with my hp/compaq nc6400.
The keyboard/mousepad stop working randomly while on battery, if the power-supply is plugged in the issue does not appear.
How can i determine why this happens?
During the keyboard/mouse freeze the system keeps running...
Is there any power-saving which does affect key/mouse?
thanks in advance
update:
if i'm on battery and plug in a usb-keyboard while the laptops keyboard/mouse are frozen, the usb-keyboard works, but after a random time even the usb-keyboard freezes also
update 2:
its also happening on debian,
i even disabled usb-autosuspend but my key/mouse are shown as PS/2 in xinput

Hi, we do not "bump" threads here ![]()
It definitely sounds like a power saving feature. Which have you installed and/or setup? Also, is your keyboard & mouse connected to a hub that is connected to your laptop? Or are they both connected directly to your laptop? What have you done so far? Have you changed any settings yet?
Can you output some logs so we can see what is going on? Try to capture the logs when you are on AC and the keyboard+mouse are working and when you unplug and go on BATTERY where they stop working.

Use a USB keyboard and mouse. Parallel ports have less of a bit by bit data rate compared to serial ports.
