CD Burning with Kernel 2.6.x

Does anyone have a Howto to set this up? I have searched high and low, and all that I have left is several new coasters.  :?

Re: CD Burning with Kernel 2.6.x

well in my case i just used the very same scsi-emulation setting i did with 2.4.23/4 and everything worked just fine.

apparently if you use the cdrtools-devel package  you should be able to burn without even using scsi-emulation. instead of using dev=x,x,x you can use dev=ATAPI and should be good to go.

sorry i cannot really help you out more but i had no transiton error with cdburning

Re: CD Burning with Kernel 2.6.x

I used ide-cd module to use my CDRW and device in cdrecord is (If I good remember, at work now not in front of my AL Box) /dev/ide/bus2/....., not scsi 0,0,0.

Works fine for me, I found this solution when kernel said "ide-scsi is deprecated"

P.S. Please correct my english, it's not my native language

Re: CD Burning with Kernel 2.6.x

I have a Linux faq for beginners at http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/linfaq.html
that has a link to a good cd burning article which is at

http://linux.sgms-centre.com/howto/cdwriting.php

My own experience indicates that in the 2.6 kernel I had to compile all the necessary things into the kernel rather than use modules.
