unable to see entire shell

I am trying to install Arch on an IBM T43 laptop, and am having trouble with my bash shell while not running X. For some reason, there are times when I can not see the bottom 11 lines of my shell screen. The system will accept commands that I type blindly. The condition persists if I logout and log back in. However, if I reboot, it seems to correct itself. I have installed Arch on this laptop in the past.

Re: unable to see entire shell

@WanderingOak, you need to provide details when you post.  The non-X area that the getty runs in is the console provided by the graphics kernel module.  So without information about your actual hardware in question, it is quite hard to try to help you.
