I have an odd problem where my screensaver doesn't seem to be starting up at all. If I access it directly from the Control Center or and of the areas to control the screen saver, I can test it just fine. However, if I leave my computer sit the alotted amount of time the screensaver doesn't start. I've tried multiple screensavers and none of them work, so it's not the individual screensaver that is doing it.
After searching I found a similar thread where this same issue was brought up but not checked at all because no one could confirm a similar occurrance, however now the same thing is happening to me.
Any ideas?

I had this problem as well. I think I solved it by adding "DPMS-dependent=false" to the screensaver portion of ~/.kde/share/config/kdesktoprc.

Hmm, that did seem to have some effect, but it didn't solve the problem. Now what happens if after waiting for the duration set before the screensaver kicks in the current image freezes rendering as it probably would if a screensaver was on, but the screensaver itself doesn't actually launch.

Ok, now I'm utterly confused. I noticed that after adding that line, animations in Konqueror stopped working so I removed it and now screensavers are working again...
So, I guess this is solved... kinda?
