Flash is slow [SOLVED]

After using Chromium and Flash together for a long time without any issues, I'm back to the game and having issues with Flash again.

A few days ago I noticed while watching Youtube videos, after moving the mouse or switching the tab, sometimes the video player would go black.

I did some research on it and decided to install the pepper flash from AUR. I disabled the flashplugin and enabled pepper flash in chrome://plugins. It's version 12.0.0.4 or something like that.

However, when I play videos on Youtube, it plays the videos like showing still images. I've tried to install back flashplugin, but got the same result.

Any idea why this is happening to me? I'm using an older Intel integrated graphic card. But I think my graphic card is still good enough to play flash videos on youtube, as it was working fine a few weeks ago.

Re: Flash is slow [SOLVED]

I had the same problem with Flash video.  How I solved it for YouTube at least is to use ViewTube and the npapi-vlc plugin.  In Chromium ViewTube can be installed by opening the Extensions page and then dragging the downloaded file onto that.  When you're on a YouTube page select VLC (install that too) from the drop-down and then click play.  ViewTube isn't officially available as a Chrome/Chromium extension because it also allows you to download the videos which is a no-no for getting into the official store.  Right-click on the playing video to choose to show the toolbar and also select full-screen.

Edit: You can also use TamperMonkey to manage ViewTube for you if you like.  I prefer the direct route although.

Re: Flash is slow [SOLVED]

Thanks. The problem is that Youtube is not the only website I visit. Sometimes there are flash videos on other websites. I use youtube-dl to manually download the video from youtube and some other video streaming websites as a quick solution. I was looking for a long term solution for my problem.

Every time I have issues with Flash, this xkcd comes to my mind: http://xkcd.com/619/

Re: Flash is slow [SOLVED]

Check that hardware acceleration is working for chromium from chrome://gpu

If not, try enabling 'Override software rendering' from chrome://flags

Re: Flash is slow [SOLVED]

Hardware acceleration was on. I went to chrome//flags and noticed Override software rendering was already enabled. I just reset all the settings and relaunched the browser and everything worked fine. Thanks for the tips and tricks.
