Google Talk with Wine

Has anybody been able to use Google Talk with Wine? I am able to install it and open the program, but when I try to log in, it can't connect. I was just wondering if anybody had managed to make it work.

I didn't manage it either, so I'm using gaim for Google Talk right now. Just in case you might consider other applications, both gaim and kopete support Google Talk through the jabber protocol.

Screen Name: your gmail login without @gmail.com
Server: gmail.com
Protocol: Jabber

I did find that out from the Google Talk site, but nothing except for the Google Talk client supports the VoIP aspect of it.

I understand that gaim-vv is being merged back into gaim proper. This means that they should be supporting voice on google talk eventually. Further, one of the gaim developers now works for google. :-D

When this will all happen, however, is another question!

Well, it'll be nice when that happens. Until then, I'll keep screwing with it and see if I can't manage to get Google Talk working with wine.

Gaim 2.0 should support Google Talk VoIP, its in beta right now, so i would just hold a little while.

Well, google opened up in federation with all jabber servers. So you don't need anything in wine :-D Heck, you don't even need a google talk account.
