Relying on just the i915 intel driver works flawlessly, no bugs, no problems, however the AMD card is then left UNCLAIMED and could possibly lead to overheating/battery drain, so I am not so happy about that (the open source radeon driver does not support my card yet either, and I'm not convinced acpi_call is a good idea).
Yet if I install fglrx, then select the iGPU with `aticonfig --px-igpu`, I end up getting a bug. This bug manifests itself each time the screen is locked or the laptop lid is closed, and it results in a frozen desktop with just a moveable cursor. I need to switch back and forth to a tty to recover.
How can this be though? Surely `pxpress` is just loading the Intel `i915` module that does not experience issues without `fglrx` being installed? What has changed in my system?
It looks to me that fglrx switches back to the good old stock Mesa libGL when the igpu is selected....so I doubt that is the difference.
Anyone know?
