Gnome 2.12?

Is there anyway I can get different version of gnome then the one that is in the extras repository...perhaps even an older version? I think the version I have isn't working to well..

What problems are you having? More information on your problem would really help.

Re: Gnome 2.12?

right..umm i go into it in more detail in the thread titled "arch instable...?"  but basically the computer freezes and random times...one of my theories is that it is gnome the other is that it has to do with the internet and IPv6. In order to test the Gnome idea i would like to use a different version to see if it has any affect....if you need any more info feel free to ask. I made this thread in hopes to find out about repositories with other versions of gnome.[/url]

Re: Gnome 2.12?

If you think that it's gnome that's freezing your system, it might be simpler to test with another WM instead of downgrading all the gnome packages. You could try with a lightweight WM like icewm, for example.

Try to stop teh HAL daemon, and see, if the freezes are gone.

Yes or you can put a ! in front of it (!hal) to comment it. I don't know exactly what hal does but I think it's used with dbus to automount device like CD/floppy drive.

Re: Gnome 2.12?

Not that I'm aware of. You could do a forum search for that. I don't run the hal daemon.  Only dbus otherwise k3d would complain.
