Hi folks,
Been playing Dota2 for a couple of weeks now, loving it! I have found the Linux User Group "Guild" and joined up. But I wonder if more people are playing on an Arch desktop like me. Steam runs like a charm on my desktop and so does Dota2 with all graphics set to highest. Almost never crashes.
Looking forward to meeting others. Interested? Just join the Linux chat channel when you are on Dota 2 and see you there!
Kind regards,
Miblon

Do you use steam for linux or wine version? My Dota2 runs to slow in my box (64bits).

I've tried DOTA2 a couple times on my desktop. I'm so terrible at it, but the game runs very smoothly.

I've logged a good 600 hours or more playing Dota 2 on Arch Linux. If any archers want to play some games feel free to add me, mynis01 on steam. New/low-skill players are welcome!

Did you guys manage to set up steamgroups or ingame chats for Arch users? Idd like to join up as well. I am a new in Dota2 and I am truly horrible at it. Idd like to learn the ropes from friendly fellow players.

I do, but I play it on Windows. Can't get it to quite work on Arch. My graphics card isn't supported properly.
"In hearing news about Adobe Flash dropping linux support."
GERGE: There is nothing wrong with this; as already pointed out, Flash is dead outside Windows.
Awebb: That's like saying fish is dead outside the ocean, GERGE.

Once I get the bandwidth to DL the game again, I'll be up and running.
Claire is fine.
Problems? I have dysgraphia, so clear and concise please.

What GPU/driver combos are you all using? I love dota, but am running the open source AMD drivers for my 6950 and it's unplayable. I'm considering making the jump, but am worried about multimonitor support (run an eyefinity config and it's flawless right now in gnome).

I have an AMD HD7770 and I use catalyst proprietary drivers. The game runs bad. The first 10 minutes I can max all and it goes smooth, but then other time the FPS degrades and at some point after one hour I have to degrade all to minimum.
I don't know if it s a graphic card problem, or drivers.
Under windows, all max 1080p runs perfect.

I use Intel Graphics and the game runs well... I had to turn off some eye-candy features (well, almost all of it) but I can play smoothly (LoL seemd better optimised - playable Dota looks terrible but, well...). My nickname on Steam is "smsrampage" so feel free to add me to Archers' group when there will be one. ;-)

Nvidia 770gtx with proprietary drivers. Runs as good as the windows version.

GTX 560TI / Phenom X4 955 + Nvidia binary drivers here, runs perfectly. All settings maxed.
Yesterday I tried the Nouveau driver, but I get only 3-4 fps in game, I have forget about it It had the same behaviour as last year.

what is radeonsi?? how can I install it?
I have an HD7770, which is similar to a HD7950. At least from a Dota2 point of view, both cards should max it.

GT620 with 2GB RAM, proprietary nvidia drivers. quad core 4GB AMD system.
works just fine: 19 fps which is quite acceptable to me...

Update: Running proprietary Catalyst driver with a triple head setup in gnome on a 6950. The game plays very well, but I am noticing flickering corruption on the side monitors while in game that occasionally displays over the game itself.
I'm using the latest drivers found in Vi0l0's unofficial repo.
Update 2: Switched to xf86-video-ati-git and mesa-git with lib32-mesa-git. I've only had time for one game since then, but Dota 2 seems very playable. I also have far less problems on first boot (catalyst had issues with DP connected displays timing out, and turning them on/off made gdm unresponsive occasionally). I am running 3x 1920x1080 displays all connected via. displayport. Dota2 launches fine fullscreen on the center monitor. I am running Gnome, so the launch bar (dock) appears over the game occasionally when I move the mouse to the left side of the screen, however the buttons do not appear clickable so this is less of an issue.
