If I understand correctly, you are installing Arch Linux in a Virtual Machine. You need a video driver for your hardware, in your case, install xf86-video-vmware

Yes,it has worked.
And I suggest that in the begginer's guid article,the word 'VirtualBox' could be replaced by 'virtual machine',I missed it because I just use VMware and I just didn't install the xf86-video-vmware.
